Purpose
Logan County
Title Company was founded July 1, 1903 by Lynn R. Parker to
provide abstract and title work to residential, commercial,
and agricultural clients throughout Logan County and surrounding
areas. The family-owned company continues to thrive today in
its second century of operation.

July 1903
Lynn
R. Parker begins his abstract business after stints with Lincoln
Casket and Modern Electric Light companies. The abstract company “fired” Lynn
earlier in the year when two abstract firms merged. |

First ad appears in The
Lincoln Daily Courier for Parker’s services as an “abstractor
of titles.” Operations housed in his uncle’s office,
David H. Harts, lawyer and president of Harts Medicine Co. |

1907
City directory reflects a new office location
for Parker, 608-1/2 Broadway, Lincoln. |

1910
Parker buys Logan County Abstract Co., 401 Pulaski,
from James T. Hoblit. |

|
1914
Lincoln plat map completed by Parker and county
surveyor D. L. Braucher, perfecting it on the third attempt and
copyrighting it in ‘22. The map continues as an authoritative
source today. |

1918
Office listed as “courthouse.” Lynn R. Parker
elected circuit clerk in 1912, 1916.

1919
Parker buys current building, 507 Pulaski, for
office. |

1930
Logan County Title Company incorporates. Parker
explains, “A corporation lives forever, and doesn’t
go out of existence simply because the head of it dies.” |

1931
Board of directors elects three officers:
- Lynn R. Parker, president
- Dean Hill, vice president
- John R. Parker, treasurer

|
1934
John R. Parker serves as Logan County Circuit Clerk.

1951
By-laws amended to allow two vice presidents,
Hill and John R. Parker. |
|

|
February 1954
Lynn R. officially retires. He remains
president of the corporation until his death. |

| |
|
December 1954
Through a lease with the title company,
John R. Parker occupies the front of the ground floor to house
his real estate and insurance business. |
